How to use Circles on OpenTeeBox.golf — coordinate tee times with your people, not your chat app.

What is a Circle?

A Circle is a personal golf group on OpenTeeBox.golf — the friends and partners you play with regularly. The product goal is simple: share tee-time openings faster so more of your rounds happen with your people, with less coordination friction.

Circles are free to start. A founder creates the Circle, invites members, and posts openings from rounds they have already booked with the course. OpenTeeBox.golf does not sell tee sheet inventory or collect greens fees.

Where OpenTeeBox.golf works

OpenTeeBox.golf is relevant anywhere golfers book, reserve, or arrange time to play together — on the course or off. You still reserve and pay at the venue; OpenTeeBox.golf coordinates who fills the opening.

Not a booking app — members secure their slot with the venue first, then post openings on OpenTeeBox.golf.

Start or join a Circle

Founder — start

  1. Sign in at https://openteebox.golf/platformIntro
  2. Club House → Start your circle (top tile — opens the name form right away)
  3. Choose a display name your group will recognize

Founder — invite

  1. Open Circle hub (https://openteebox.golf/circleHub)
  2. Enter friend email → we send the invite, or copy a share link
  3. Invite link format: https://openteebox.golf/join?groupSlug=your-slug&inviteToken=…

Member — join

  1. Open the invite link from your founder
  2. Create a free account using the invited email address
  3. Accept on the join screen — you appear in the Circle roster

After joining, Club House shows Your Circle (or your circle name) when you belong to at least one. New members without a circle see Start your circle at the top.

Post for your Circle

This is the core acceleration loop — reserve with the venue as usual, then tell your Circle in one step.

  1. Reserve your tee time, simulator bay, lounge session, or driving-range slot with the venue (outside OpenTeeBox.golf)
  2. Circle hub → Post opening for this Circle
  3. Confirm date, time, and open spots on the post screen (home course for most members)
  4. Submit — Circle members receive email with I'm in / Can't make it buttons
  5. Track RSVPs in Club House → tee-time tools

Visibility & invites

Members should respond using the buttons in the Circle email — not Reply, text, or phone. Respond from email

Priority invite emails are separate from Circle join invites — join invites add people to your roster; post invites offer a specific tee time.

Respond from your Circle email

When someone posts for your Circle, you receive an email with the course, date, time, and open spots — plus two buttons: I'm in and Can't make it.

Please use the buttons in that email

To keep the headcount neat for everyone, tap I'm in or Can't make it in the email you received — not Reply on the message, not a text, and not a phone call to the host. The buttons record your answer for the whole Circle in one place.

Membership tiers

Everyone in the Circle uses the same email buttons. Your membership tier affects where you can book after you tap I'm in — not whether you can say yes or no from email. See tier & course scope.

Membership tier & venue scope (important)

Circle membership helps you find and notify your people faster. It does not override where you can book on OpenTeeBox.golf:

If a Circle mate posts a traditional course outside your tier scope, you may still see the opening but need a tier upgrade or aligned home course to book. Indoor and practice venues are not limited that way. See Wiki · Venue types.
